Computer Room

ATC 160 is the computer room for Plastics Engineering Technology. Most of the Plastic classes are taught in this room. The computers in ATC 160 currently are IBM Intellistations M Pro, with Pentium 4 3.0 GHz processors, 2 GB Ram and NVIDA Quadro Fx 1400 Graphics Cards. These computers are replaced every three years with the latest technology available. We also have a Dimension 3D printer. The 3D printer allows us to make physical models of drawing and parts. The computers have the following software:

MathCad

For more than 20 years, Mathcad has been the standard for creating, documenting, and sharing engineering calculations. Ninety percent of Fortune 1000 companies, 500 government agencies and 2,000 colleges and universities around the world use Mathcad to capture the strategic value in their engineering calculations.

Inventor

The Autodesk Inventor is 3D modeling software released by the makers of Autocad. Autodesk Inventor delivers a new ground-breaking modeling paradigm, Functional Design. It allows designers to move beyond geometric modeling and into an environment where they can focus on the problem they are trying to solve rather than spending time solely on the 3D geometry required to build the design. Autodesk Inventor offers a wide variety of features that help you design your complete product line with fewer revisions and deliver your designs and production-ready drawings in less time.

Moldflow

The Moldflow Plastics Insight suite of software is the world's leading product for the in-depth simulations to validate part and mold design. The software allows you to simulate the injection molding process and optimize the part/mold design before a mold is cut.

Mastercam

Mastercam is the most commonly used CAM (computer aided machining) software worldwide* and remains the program of choice among CNC programmers. We use this software in conjunction with the Discovery 308 CNC mill to cut molds.
