Materials Testing Lab
The Material Testing Lab is where we learn about the properties of plastic materials. Plastics area tested in many ways to determine the strength, composition, flow properties, weatherability and many other aspects.
To test the strength in tensile, compression and flexural we have an Instron Model 4204 with computer data acquisition and storage.
To learn the composition of a plastic material we have:
Mattson Fourier Transform Infra-Red Spectrometer with ATR attachment
To better understand the flow properties of a plastic material we have several rheometers:
To test how a plastic will hold up to being used outdoors exposed to the weather we have a Q-U-V Accelerated Weathering Tester.
